Product Examination and Purchase

After visually identifying a product that might meet his needs, the customer will typically desire additional information such as cost, warranty, availability, delivery time, etc. This information is effectivly conveyed by a product spec page hyperlinked to the 3D product model. This spec page might even contain a link to another, perhaps more detailed, 3D model of the product, enabling closer examination of the product model in isolation. The spec page could also, of course, contain the "Buy" button, thus tying the 3D model to the usual 2D shopping cart. (Evenually, we might expect shopping cart software to also embrace 3D visualization for more seamless integration with 3D storefronts.)

The shopper in our hypothetical office supply store has moved the red avatar arrow to intersect the file cabinet of interest, triggering the hyperlink that displays the file cabinet product spec page.
