Sample Letter Supporting NRST

The following is a sample letter supporting NRST. While a letter in your owns words is best, any letter supporting NRST is better than none, so feel free to use this one if you wish.

If you choose to use this letter, be sure to replace all six parts shown in red square brackets, such as [their name], with the indicated information.

The Honorable [their name]
U.S. House of Representatives
U.S. Capitol Building
Washington, DC 20515

[your name]
[your address]

Dear Representative [their last name]:

This letter is intended to express my concern regarding the income tax and the need for tax reform.

Specifically, I strongly support abolishing the income tax entirely, and substituting in its place a National Retail Sales Tax (NRST) similar to that proposed in House Bill HR 2001. Since the NRST would be collected and enforced by the states along with the state sales taxes, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) becomes unnecessary, and I strongly support concurrent abolishment of the IRS as well.

Thank you for your attention to this issue, which I believe to be of utmost importance to the economic and social welfare of our country.

Respectfully,

[your name]

In practice, it makes little difference if you send a short letter, a longer letter, an original letter, or even a form letter. The most important thing is that you send something so your elected official knows where you stand on tax reform.
