Site Construction Principles

This site has an austere look and feel compared to most other web sites. This is a direct result of the principles of construction underlying the LDJ site:
  1. Principle #1 - Information Presentation: The better one understands a topic, the more likely they are to have a unique view of the subject. This site strives to present information within our area of expertise from our perspective, a perspective which may not be available elsewhere.

  2. Principle #2 - Efficiency: Your time is more important than a cute look and feel for our website. Efficiency is thus ranked high priority, and takes into account the ubiquity of web connections of 14.4K-28.8K bps. Efficiency is achieved by not using .gif files or other download-intensive features for aesthetic purposes. Such features are used only when plain text cannot adequately convey the information being presented.
